# Charts

> Set up a TakeProfit chart: candles, TPO, and Volume Footprint chart types, the Liquidity Heatmap overlay, time and tick intervals, and every control on the chart.

Charts

From candles to order flow

Add as many charts as you need. Draw price as candles, a TPO profile, or a Volume Footprint, turn on the Liquidity Heatmap on supported Bybit and Binance markets, and build bars from seconds, custom intervals, or ticks.

## Pick a view for the question

A chart draws price as one chart type at a time. The Liquidity Heatmap and compared symbols are layers on top of it.

## Set up a chart

Four steps take a new chart from empty to ready. Each step links to the details.

    Step 1 of 4
    Add a chart
Click Add Widgets in the top-right corner and drag a Chart widget into your workspace. A workspace template may already include one.

[Adding widgets](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/getting-started/Widget-Hub.md#adding-widgets-from-widget-hub-to-your-workspace)

[Workspace templates](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/getting-started/Workspaces.md#pick-a-template)

    Step 2 of 4
    Choose a symbol and interval
Click the symbol badge, or just start typing on the chart, to search. Then pick a timeframe or tick interval, and star the ones you use to pin them to the toolbar.

[Symbol search](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/getting-started/Platform-Search.md#accessing-search)

[Timeframes and ticks](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/chart-widget/Chart-timeframes.md)

    Step 3 of 4
    Pick a type, add indicators
Change the chart type next to the timeframe selector. The f icon opens built-in and marketplace indicators for the active chart.

[Switching the chart type](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/chart-widget/Chart-types#switching-the-chart-type)

[Adding an indicator](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/indicators/indicators-overview#add-an-indicator-to-a-chart)

    Step 4 of 4
Link it and keep the look
Put charts on the same link channel so a symbol change updates all of them. Save the look as a chart template.

## Intervals at a glance

| Interval | Options |
| - | - |
| **Seconds** | 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 |
| **Minutes** | 1, 3, 5, 15, 30, 45 |
| **Hours** | 1, 2, 3, 4 |
| **Days and longer** | 1 day, 1 week, 1 month |
| **Custom** | Your own interval, such as 7 minutes or 3 hours |
| **Ticks: 1–49** | Every supported market, free plan included |
| **Ticks: 50–1,000** | In steps of 50, on Binance, Bybit, Pepperstone, and Exness charts |

Daily and longer intervals reach furthest back. Intraday and tick history can be shorter, depending on the asset class and data provider.

## Good to know

* **Each chart works on its own.** It has its own symbol, interval, and settings. [Link charts](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/getting-started/Widget-Hub.md#widget-linking) when a symbol change should reach all of them.
* **The Liquidity Heatmap is an overlay, not a chart type.** It draws over whichever type you pick, and its **Heatmap** button appears only on markets with recorded order-book data.
* **Resetting chart settings also resets the chart type to Candles.** Otherwise the type is saved with the workspace layout.
* **Comparison opens in percent.** Percent keeps instruments with different prices readable; switch to absolute values in the bottom panel.
* **A saved image is 1920×1080 and up to 1 MB.** To keep a chart interactive, share a link or post it to the community instead.
