# TakeProfit AI

> AI that analyzes charts, writes Indie® scripts, and manages your alerts — on its own page, next to your widgets, or inside the IDE.

AI

Ask, and get something you can trade with

Not just an answer in a chat window. TakeProfit AI hands back charts you can open in your workspace,
indicators that compile, and alerts that are already live.

## Where AI lives

Four places, same assistant. Which one you want depends on what you are doing.

> **[AI Chat](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/ai-assistant/AI-chat-page.md)**
>
> A full screen at **takeprofit.com/ai**. The agent builds charts, scripts, alert lists, and backtests as you talk, and you keep working with what it produces.

> **[In your workspace](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/ai-assistant/AI-in-workspace.md)**
>
> A chat panel beside your widgets. Attach a chart and ask about it without leaving the layout you trade from.

> **[In the IDE](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/ai-assistant/AI-assistant-IDE.md)**
>
> An assistant in the Indie® editor for writing, converting, and refactoring indicator code.

> **[On the chart](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/ai-assistant/Ask-AI-on-chart.md)**
>
> **Ask AI** in the chart header: a breakdown of the chart in front of you, or drawn suggestions you accept in one click.

## What it can do

The assistant works through seven skills. Leave the picker on **Auto** and it chooses for itself, or select one to keep the answer focused.

| Skill | What it covers |
| - | - |
| **Technical Analysis** | Indicators, chart patterns, key levels, and market structure |
| **Indie Scripts** | Creating, modifying, and debugging custom indicators and strategies (paid plan or your own API key) |
| **Alerts** | Creating, editing, pausing, deleting, and troubleshooting price alerts |
| **Watchlists** | Reading your watchlists, quoting them, and editing what is in them |
| **Screener** | Screening stocks, ETFs, CFDs, and crypto on price behaviour — performance, relative volume, gaps |
| **Platform Guide** | Searching platform documentation, features, and how-to guides |
| **Risk & Position Sizing** | Position size, risk/reward, max loss, and Kelly criterion sizing |

[Skills and prompts](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/ai-assistant/How-to-work-with-AI-tools.md) covers each one in detail, with prompts that work well.

> [!TIP]
>
> Keep prompts short and specific, and say which ticker or widget you mean.

> [!WARNING]
>
> TakeProfit AI does not provide guaranteed predictions or direct financial advice. It does not give direct commands such as "buy" or "sell". Market-related answers are structured as conditional scenarios.

## Usage and limits

**Rate limit:** 5 requests per minute for all users.

**Hosted budgets** are counted per rolling 30-day window, starting from your first request rather than the calendar month:

| Plan | Budget | Models |
| - | - | - |
| Free plan and trial | \$5 | Open models through OpenRouter, such as DeepSeek and Qwen |
| Paid plan | \$50 | The full hosted lineup |

The 30-day trial counts as the free plan here: it opens up the platform, not the larger AI budget.

**Indie® needs a paid plan or your own key.** Writing and editing Indie® code — the **Indie Scripts** skill in the chat and the [assistant in the IDE](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/ai-assistant/AI-assistant-IDE.md) — is available on a paid plan, or on any plan once you connect your own API key. On the free plan and the trial, choosing it offers an upgrade.

**Where you see what's left:** the [AI Chat](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/ai-assistant/AI-chat-page.md) composer shows your remaining spend and counts down to the reset, and repeats the same rows in Chat settings and the model picker.

**Using your own key:** connect a personal API key from **Anthropic**, **OpenAI**, or **OpenRouter** in [chat settings](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/ai-assistant/AI-chat-page.md#chat-settings) to route requests through your own account with that provider, which bypasses the hosted caps entirely. OpenRouter alone opens up hundreds of models.

**Use external LLMs via MCP:** connect through the [TakeProfit MCP server](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/platform/ai-assistant/Mcp-server-guide.md) if you prefer to work in an external AI workspace such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, or VS Code.
