# Alerts

> Cloud alerts on price and on any indicator, including your own scripts: the conditions you can set, where notifications go, how to track what fired, and the limits.

Alerts

Let alerts watch the market

Set a condition on price or on any indicator on your chart, including your own Indie® scripts. Alerts run in the cloud, keep working with the platform closed, and reach you by email, in Telegram, or through a webhook.

## Pick a condition

Every alert watches a source, price or an indicator, for one of these conditions. The criteria cards link to examples.

> **[A price level](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alert-trigger-criteria.md)**
>
> **Greater Than, Lower Than, and Crossing**: price or an indicator moves past a level you set. Use **Crossing** against a value to be told when price reaches a level from either direction.

> **[A sharp move](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alert-trigger-criteria.md)**
>
> **Moving Up and Moving Down**: a rise or fall by a set amount or percentage within a number of bars.

> **[A crossover](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alert-trigger-criteria.md)**
>
> **Cross Up and Cross Down**: one series crosses another from below or above, such as price and a moving average.

> **[A range](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alert-trigger-criteria.md)**
>
> **Channel conditions**: price or an indicator enters, exits, stays inside, or stays outside a range.

> **[Your own indicator](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alerts-overview.md)**
>
> **Custom indicator alerts**: any indicator on the chart, including private scripts saved to My scripts.

> **[Several conditions at once](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alerts-overview.md#multiconditional-alerts)**
>
> **Multiconditional alerts**: price and indicator conditions in one alert, which fires when all of them are met.

## Set up your first alert

Four steps take you from a condition to a notification. Each step links to the details.

<ol>
  <li>
    Step 1 of 4
    Open the alert form
    Hover over the chart and click the bell, right-click the chart, or press Alt + A. The Alerts button in the top-right corner opens it too.

    <ul>
      <li>[Alerts on the chart](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alerts-overview.md#setting-up-alerts-directly-on-the-chart)</li>
      <li>[The Alerts dialog](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alerts-overview.md#setting-up-alerts-through-the-alerts-dialog-window)</li>
    </ul>
  </li>

  <li>
    Step 2 of 4
    Set the condition
    Choose price or an indicator as the source, then the criterion and the target. Add more symbols to get the same alert on each of them.

    <ul>
      <li>[Trigger criteria](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alert-trigger-criteria.md)</li>
      <li>[Several symbols at once](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alerts-overview.md#setting-one-condition-on-several-symbols)</li>
    </ul>
  </li>

  <li>
    Step 3 of 4
    Choose where it reaches you
    Open Expand to set how often it fires and when it expires. Then add an email, Telegram, or a webhook, and a message with variables.

      <li>[Telegram notifications](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Telegram-alerts.md)</li>
      <li>[Variables in messages](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/How-use-variable-InAlert.md)</li>
    </ul>
  </li>

  <li>
    Step 4 of 4
    Keep track of it
    My Alerts shows the status of each alert, pauses or restarts alerts in bulk, and keeps a log of every trigger.

## Where notifications go

| Channel | How it works | Guide |
| - | - | - |
| **Email** | Add an address in the alert's settings. | [Additional settings](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alerts-overview.md#additional-settings) |
| **Telegram** | Turn on Telegram in the alert and start the TakeProfit bot once. | [Telegram notifications](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Telegram-alerts.md) |
| **Telegram groups and channels** | A webhook sends the alert through your own bot. | [Telegram via webhook](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Telegram-webhook.md) |
| **Discord** | Paste a channel's webhook URL into the alert. | [Discord via webhook](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Discord-webhook.md) |
| **Your server or app** | A POST request carries your JSON message to any URL. | [Webhook basics](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Webhook-notifications.md) |
| **WunderTrading** | The webhook message tells a WunderTrading Signal Bot which trade to place. | [WunderTrading automation](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/wundertrading-automation.md) |

## More ways to work with alerts

> **[Alerts from your AI client](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alerts-overview.md#creating-alerts-via-ai-mcp)**
>
> Create, pause, and review alerts in plain language through the TakeProfit MCP server.

> **[Alert lines on the chart](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alerts-overview.md#alerts-tab-in-chart-settings)**
>
> Drag a price alert's line to a new level, and choose whether lines, inactive alerts, and tickers show.

> **[Messages with live data](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/How-use-variable-InAlert.md)**
>
> Put the ticker, prices, time, and indicator values into the message, as plain text or JSON.

## Limits at a glance

| Limit | Value |
| - | - |
| **Active alerts** | 1 on the free plan, expiring within 3 months. Up to 400 on All-In, with no expiration. See [Alert limits](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/alerts/Alert-limitations-delivery-history.md#alert-limits) |
| **One condition on several symbols** | Counts once per symbol |
| **Email** | One message per minute per address |
| **Notifications in the platform** | No delivery limit |

## Good to know

* **Alerts run in the cloud.** They fire with the platform closed, and you can open the chart [from your phone](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/getting-started/Mobile.md) when one arrives.
* **Several symbols make several alerts.** One condition on five symbols creates five alerts. If they don't all fit your limit, the ones that fit are still created.
* **A private script is enough.** An alert works on your own indicator as soon as it is saved to My scripts, without publishing it.
* **Every condition has to be true.** A multiconditional alert fires only when all of its conditions are met.
* **Deleting an alert deletes its log.** Trigger history is kept for as long as the alert exists.
* **Webhooks come from two IP addresses.** If your server sits behind a firewall, allowlist `32.196.192.252` and `52.70.159.39`.

> Alert updates are announced in the [platform changelog](https://takeprofit.com/docs/guide/changelog.md).
